— A Fellow Traveler

I am not here
to show you
the way.

I'm here because I've stood where you might be standing — at the edge of the rubble, knowing I should feel hopeful and not being able to locate that hope anywhere.

— Where This Begins

I have not reached some level of enlightenment. I don't know so much more than you that would somehow elevate me to a level standing above or beyond you. I'm beside you — with much of this having been brought to my attention only over the past few years in real, soul-shaking ways.

It was brought to my attention that I really do have choices. Decisions to make about who I am, what I want, and why.

More importantly — what that why is grounded in. Because the why that's going to keep me coming back has to be rooted in something real. Something that holds when everything else is falling apart. Something that keeps me returning to myself.

Especially on the shittiest days when I don't want to. At all.

What this work is. What it is not.

I am not the how-to guy.

I am not the foremost expert. Not the mechanical, technical, instructional voice in the room. I am not here to hand you a system, a checklist, or a program you complete and move on from.

This work is not a short fix to anything. It is going to take from you. It is going to require you.

And that's not a warning. That's the whole point.

The wisdom in this work doesn't live in the content. It lives in the quality of the questions. In the honesty the work asks of you. In the willingness to see yourself clearly — not to condemn what you find, but to understand it.

— What This Work Is Trying To Do

Wherever you come in — whatever brought you here — the arc of this work moves in one direction.

From → To

Chaos → Clarity

Get everything out in front of you. Name it. See it for what it is. Not to fix it yet — just so it stops being a monster in the dark.

From → To

Lost → Oriented

There is a way through. Wherever you are, however you got here — you are not disqualified. You are not broken. You are not behind.

From → To

Shame → Understanding

Not blame. Context. All behavior makes sense in context. That honesty isn't punishment. It's the foundation for everything that comes next.

How I Show Up

From the very first conversation, I want you to feel like you've found a soft, safe place to land. Where anything that comes to mind — any thought, any emotion — is welcome. There's room for it. There's space for it.

I want you to feel like you've come to the right person. Someone who has been through it — but who is not going to project their experience onto yours.

My experience is the bridge to connection. Listening to you is the bridge to you.

What I Bring

My story gets us to the same table. It creates the safety — it says: I'm not above this, I've been in it. But the moment you start talking, my story steps back. It informs my instincts. It doesn't lead them.

What Takes Its Place

Listening. Not to identify, not to sympathize — listening to understand. This person. Right now. Not the version of this story I've heard before. You. Right now.

We need each other.

And I wish we understood just how much and why.

It would change everything.
